Whatever happened to the Truth?

We open on a note of infantile AI idiocy today. My Qcell local calls facility ran out of credit last Monday. Clearly the Qcell bot didn't want to bother me with any predictions of impending telephonic isolation, so I found out I was running on empty when a lady android bot barged in on every Gambian call I tried to make and announced in an accusatory tone that 'Yerou haff insoffisheeent funds eaan yer accoont'.

So I went to the Qcell branch nearest to me, refilled my local calls lake and said, "While I'm here, I'll renew my monthly Whatsapp data account". The guy behind the desk processed my purchase and gave me a receipt for another thirty days of phone access to the internet.

Two days later, Qcell bot central politely asked me to do what I had already done. So I replied to, as it were, confirm I had already done it. The panel below is a page capture of the human being-tinpot exchange. The bot's ultimate response nearly made me lose control of my bladder:

So there you have it, folks: Hal the 2001 computer....eat your heart out. AI here at Qcell declines to communicate with its retail staff, as a result of which, I - the customer - obviously don't exist. Cue Basil Fawlty with his immortal complaint, "I'm trying to run a hotel here, but you guests keep getting in the way".

Several factors are causing this effect in Europe, including shifts in atmospheric circulation, leading to more frequent and intense heatwaves. Additionally, reduced air pollution means that more solar radiation is reaching the Earth’s surface and reducing cloud cover. Certain areas of Europe also extend into the Arctic, which is the fastest warming region on the planet.

Countries such as the United Kingdom, France, Spain and Portugal saw the hottest temperatures recorded since 1979 from the start of the first heatwave to the end of the second heatwave – June 17 to July 2.....

'A report by Imperial’s Grantham Institute published last week studied 12 European cities to measure changes in the intensity of heatwaves. From June 23 to July 2 it estimated there were 2,300 heat-related deaths, including 1,500 linked to climate change, which made the heatwaves more severe.....these are climate-change fuelled...Climate change was behind:

317 of the estimated excess heat deaths in Milan, 286 in Barcelona, 235 in Paris, 171 in London, 164 in Rome, 108 in Madrid, 96 in Athens, 47 in Budapest, 31 in Zagreb, 21 in Frankfurt, 21 in Lisbon and six in Sassari, Italy.'

It's bunkum from start to finish: causality and assertion using impressive numbers to disguise the gigantic holes in the argument

• 'leading to more frequent and intense heatwaves' on the one hand but in the same breath, noting 'the hottest temperatures recorded since 1979'. No Al Jazeera, the only heatwave recorded for forty-six years.
• 'it estimated there were 2,300 heat-related deaths, including 1,500 linked to climate change'. How exactly did they arrive at the attribution of blame'?

It's still about control. And it's still an existentially dangerous game being played solely for the benefit of the four percent.

In that context, I'm indebted to long-term Slog follower Ann in the US for pointing out this Jimmy Dore podcast on the subject of China-led BRICS joint action to bring Israeli Zionism to justice.

Last night, Tucker Carlson [TC] podcasted with guest Darryl Cooper [DC] on the subject of the disturbingly blatant Jeffrey Epstein deep-State cover-up. What follows are some excerpts that demonstrate how far from being The Land of the Free so many of us idolised in our youth the US has travelled since 1963.

DC: Well, Jeffrey Epstein was born in Coney Island in the 1950s. First record we really have of him when he appears in 1974...hired to teach mathematics at the Dalton School, which is an elite private school in New York City. It’s a very elite place that can have their pick of mathematics teachers from all over the world if they want it. And so they hire a guy who’s 20 years old, who dropped out of college after two years at Cooper Union, with no teaching experience to teach math at this school, basically at the age of 20. At the age of 20, basically on the strength of a meeting with the headmaster of the school at the time, a guy by the name of Donald Barr.

TC: Who was Donald Barr?

DC: Yeah. So that name might sound familiar. Donald Barr is a very interesting character, not least because his son, Bill Barr, was the Attorney General who had Jeffrey Epstein arrested and oversaw his death in the federal jail that he was in.

TC: What are the statistical, the actual odds of that? The Attorney General of the United States who arrested Jeffrey Epstein, oversaw his death, declared his death a suicide before the investigation ended, is the son of the guy who hired Jeffrey Epstein at age 20, with no teaching experience or college degree to teach at one of the most prestigious schools in Manhattan. What are the odds?

DC: Whatever the odds are, let’s add a few more zeros to that. Okay, so Donald Barr used to work for the OSS, which was the precursor to the CIA, back during World War II.
