The case for defiant realism

I've been tumbling the numbers over the last three days in relation to global psychological typologies. I carried out this exercise not just because I'm a sad person, but also because I wanted to try and quantify the real size of the task 'The Resistance' faces in first of all, prevailing against actual and potential Global Monopolist New World Order Power; and secondly, to assess the apathy, distraction and obedience tendencies to be overcome among those who - as yet - display little appetite for resistance.

Calling upon a variety of sources - as always in the 21st century, nobody seems able to agree about anything - this was the general picture in February 2025 when it comes to the question of "having your say" online about events of one form or another:

  • More than half of the world now uses social media (62.6%)
  • 5.07 billion people around the world now use social media, 259 million new users have come online within the last year.
  • The average daily time spent using social media is 2h 20m

Just to be obvious for a second here, that leaves 37.4% who don't use it at all. This group is heavily skewed towards people over 65 in the First World, and those in acute poverty in the Third World. Arguably, traditionalists and those who are hungry most of the time are more likely to hold negative views about the New Normal monopolists some of us love to hate.

Further, while 259 million sounds like a lot, at that rate it is going to be 2045 at the earliest before everyone is using social media....and by then, anything might have happened to stop or reverse the growth.

Additionally, nobody really knows what percentage of social media users are online with a thirst for resistance. It's perfectly obvious, for example, that vast numbers of people tweeting on X are there in search of a sexual relationship in which resistance of any kind is going to be a very low priority. Similarly, Facebook still has an enormous hard core of 35-60 year old mothers using the medium as a familial and social tool, who have little or no interest in geopolitics, genocidal conspiracies, unipolar global hegemony or anything much beyond the price of fish.

A Gallup poll from earlier this year suggested that 36% of Americans have no trust at all in the media. A quant study in late 2024 suggested that the number in the UK is 31%. In the EU, some 38% of citizens when polled say their biggest concern about Brussels is 'lack of real democracy'.

So a rule of thumb might put the Resistor psychographic (at various levels of intensity) around 'just over a third'.

Most studies about Anti Social Personality Disorder [ASPD] identify two distinct groups - sociopaths and psychopaths. In a nutshell, the difference between the two is that while both demonstrate a lack of empathy towards others, psychopaths are in complete control of themselves at all times, whereas sociopaths are far more likely to act based on unwise impulse and thus 'give themselves away'.

ASPD is three times more common among men than women, possibly suggesting that some chemical - eg testosterone - might hold the key to the overall condition. Opinions remain fiercely divided, but at any given time the general view on incidence of ASPD is around 4%.

So, across the board of mental typologies, a combined-source reasonable range looks more or less like this:

34% Complain/Resist 46% Compliant 16% Uninvolved/Apathetic* 4% ASPD

*This segment is alienated from normal society, and simply does not care what the 'right' or 'wrong' thing is to do. In some ways, for predictive purposes we would do well to lump them in with the Compliant.

The bottom line is thus that non resisters represent 62% of us - so the Resistance is outnumbered almost two to one.

Anyone who was actively involved in opposing the State pension fraud that created the Waspi movement will (a) find these stats entirely intuitive and (b) feel justified in their long-held view that George Osborne is a sociopath.

As the old saying has it, "the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for many good men to do nothing". Well, the biggest single psychological typology by miles consists of good folks who are highly likely to do nothing. Which probably explains why the ASPD 4% is running everything.

My general reaction when greedy madness prevails is to swear a lot. Hence the birth of a new Slogarithm below:

But in no way is my mission to rend clothes and scream "Resistance is futile, we are doomed!" What I'm trying to discourage in this post is overconfidence - in the sense of "Now we've got them on the run" [I don't believe we have] and/or repeating the mistakes made by the Waspi ladies [being too nice].

They're not on the run...

....they're running the world. They control almost every media narrative, most of the weapons, all of the Secret Police, the military deployment, the vast majority of politicians, all the bureaucrats, millions of fundamentalist fanatics, the Justice systems, 97% of the money and two thirds of the citizenry.

Money brings power, power attracts psychopaths and psychopaths consolidate their power at an alarming rate. In a world replete with nuclear missiles, bioweapon labs, sociopathic Big Pharma and weaponised weather, it doesn't matter if you're a minute minority: eight billionaires can dictate to eighty billion people if they own all the switchgear.

There are just two things they fear: the unexpected revolt, and overt ridicule.

Waspi failed because its leaders were both predictable and respectable

They believed in clearly stated actions that did not frighten the elite, and zero harassment of the gargoyles 'for the good of the cause'.

In contrast to Muhammed Ali, they floated like wasps, but stung like butterflies.

So it was that Little Osborne described the naked State theft later as "the easiest austerity saving I ever made".

Last but not least, being decent ladies who assumed that other good citizens would flock to their cause, they fell victim to the 62% syndrome I identified earlier.

The Resistance (to the horrific 21st century genocide being planned by the dark forces of monopolism) is weak in three areas

  • It lacks coordination when it comes to surprise attack
  • It lacks a clear definition of mutuality capitalism as the vastly superior alternative to neoliberal greed
  • It ignores the power of non-digital approaches involving good fiction writing, satire, music* and community door-knocking.

*Note how the instant appeal of one brilliant accoustic song ridiculing the 'lack of Epstein lists' tossed President Trump into an odious swamp

Using a soccer analogy, one might opine that The Resistance is a team of dazzling individuals who provide a great deal of entertainment, but usually finish in the lower half of the Premiership Table.

There is a need - given the innate power of the 4% I've outlined today - to raise our game or face mediocrity by relegation to the lower orders.

Because within some of the stats here recorded, there are further attitude sub-tendencies that will make the task we all face even more tricky.

For instance, within the 62% level of compliance, there is also the well-documented resentment of the obedient who curse us for 'not getting behind the Government' or 'being disloyal in this our hour of need'. It is an absolutely classic syndrome which I tend to call self-righteous lockstep...the art of blaming Jews gassed by the Nazis for not getting out when the writing was on the wall - or Waspis being told they should have paid more attention to government warnings about pension theft.

The justification and normalisation of wickedness was evident throughout Nazi Germany during and after the Crystalnacht horror, when otherwise decent Germans stood by while Jewish shops were trashed by Sturm Abteilung thugs. Sadly, in 2025 it's alive and well everywhere.

It's a tiring business, being gobby. Believe me, I've had fifteeen months of continuous stress at the hands of crooked pension bureaucrats, chiselling banks, incompetent banks, self-exculpating banks, AI cover-ups, pompous nosey-parker Hitlers, lawless noise pollution, endless corruption, naked greed, phone-provider crossfire hate....and fairweather "friends".

Ultimately, the mutualist ethic is the biggest thing that's missing in 21st century life. Many are those who will cross over on the other side, the better to 'not notice' the leper in need.

And that's why I stress that such social solidarity is in turn missing from The Resistance in its current form.

The approach is too egotistical at times, perhaps somewhat self-absorbed. It's also far too fixated by the pursuit of online digital fame. It giggles at those who say the grass roots doorknocking approach is still highly effective - as are musical and literary creativity - in the business of honest persuasion as opposed to the empty depravity of propaganda.

There is clearly a vision missing somewhere. About 728,000 people commit suicide every year, but the incidence (while tiny at 0.009% of Homo sapiens) is heavily skewed towards the 18-29 demographic.

Questions to ask going forward

  1. Do we need an Executive forum to coordinate surprise attacks?
  2. Do we need a lot more people on the ground rather than on the internet?
  3. Do we need teaching by example in relation to mutuality as an aim rather than just wealth?
  4. Do we need to be more Solidanarsc and less Solzyhynitsin in bringing down the new Commissars?
  5. Do we need to reconfigure education away from yes/no bogus certainty towards "who knows?"

My own answer would be a resounding Yes. We need to rediscover our voyager gene, and consign Settled Science to the trash-can of history.

As most regular Slog followers know only too well, by far my most bitter recent battle involved trying to stop the UK's Pension ministry [the DWP] from stealing my pension - while persuading lifetime National Insurance members that their pension was a benefit not a Right. The battle on the latter issue continues....as indeed do the lies spewing out from every bonused Whitehall mandarin growing fat on the poverty of others.

One is the claim that benefits fraud is pandemic and enormously expensive for the UK. But it remains tiny by comparison with tax evasion by the wealthy. And last week the Nationwide Building Society said that in 2024, £53 billion pounds in genuine benefits went unclaimed.

No rush from the DWP (to find out why the benefits hadn't been claimed) I'd wager: no doubt it all went down as 'savings' to boost the pay packets of the Boys in the Band.

Of course, what I am expressing here is opinions. I am opinionated, and always have been. But my opinions are based on stats I trust, how the people under scrutiny behave, a background in media persuasion and consumer research, and a preference for wisdom over IQ.

Most bourgeois citizens are not opinion leaders, they are parrots. They bow down on their prayer mats to pretty much all of the neoliberal economics, neocon diplomacy and cancel-culture progressive fascism being transmitted by the New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Le Monde, Le Figaro, the BBC, France24, Euronews, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Der Spiegel, Die Zeit, Handelsblatt, Die Welt, El Pais, El Mondo, La Republicca, Corrierra della Sera and La Stampa.

I know the ASPDs can be defeated. But I'm equally certain that cavalier amateurism is not the way to win this existential War on Humanity.

And on that note, here's a little bit of poetry...

Embarking on a continental drift, I climbed a Babel tower of dialects on Desiccation Row

and looked upon a sea made red by promised lands and Mullah Caliphates.

With silent power my mortal form was soiled - cleansed little by the Maker's rain -

and taunted by controlling spears, the better thereupon to roast my soul.

A giant basin fashioned by the crust is laid before my smokey-eyeball vision -

pumped into shape by Google's distant past that masquerades as sacred Now,

and second sight brings insight to the bogus barks that dare not bite.
