Shoplifting, weather forecasting and other crimes

I begin today with a celebration of those risk-taking eccentrics largely forgotten by the New Normalist century.

One fellow now lost in the mist of times gone by was the daring shoplifter Charlie Digitts.

Charlie could lift a shop weighing 4.2 tons and hold it above his head for fifteen seconds using only his bare hands. "Other weightlifters are mere nancies and pathetic weaklings" he declared in 1951, "they fool the gullible public with their hollow gym barbells, but only we shoplifters are the real deal".

At the tender age of forty-seven, Charlie died from hernia complications exacerbated by multiple neurosis of the right cortex and a sinking feeling in the knees.

We shall not see his like again.

Holidayweather.com has just issued the weather 'forecast' for my local Gambian region - captured below:

It's something of a hedge-bet: there will be clouds, sun, rain and heat.

Accuweather predicts as follows:

I shall plan my day accordingly based on the less than scientific term 'spots'.

Meteoblue largely agrees.....

......but offers a percentage predictability accuracy at 55%. Which, beyond the BS, means almost exactly as likely to be right as wrong. It was wrong.

Freemeteo.com forecast cloudy skies, trying to stay on the safe side. They too were wrong....and their forecast for next Wednesday is an absolute peach of meteriological pseudo-science:

Long-standing Slog followers will already be aware of my issues with the meteo community. Microsoft fits in well with their culture of stating the bleeding obvious: today, the Bates Motel tells me it's going to be humid. No shit, Sherlock? It's July in West Africa at the start of the rainy season....so obviously, a humidity problem had never occurred to me.

The whole point of weather forecasting is to enable business, the citizenry and farmers to be warned about what to avoid, what to plant and what to wear. I cannot remember a single instance when a meteorological office has ever helped me to do any of those things. Worse still, as a community they have caved in to the Warmist agenda - largely I suspect because they cannot tell their carbon from their methane.

And as a post-script, let me demonstrate that I am not alone in my doubts about the Met boys. This from 2021:

And finally (as they used to say towards the end of the 9pm ITN news bulletin) I cannot recommend this Kit Knightly piece at OffGuardian too highly as a post dedicated to exposing the desire of our First World élites to keep us permanently distracted and fearful as they go about their heavily-bonused work of rendering us obedient, distracted slaves.
