JFKJr's Senate hearing is tomorrow (29th January 2025) - but the FT this morning notes that
his allies fear he has failed to convince enough senators to confirm him as President Donald Trump’s top health official.
Opposition to Kennedy’s nomination has emerged from influential conservative voices, including The Wall Street Journal’s editorial board and Americans Advancing Freedom, a group co-founded by former vice-president Mike Pence that has expressed concern about the former Democrat’s support for abortion rights. “RFK is undoubtedly one of the two most endangered nominees,” says Chris Meekins, a Washington policy analyst.
And the American conservative commentator, journalist, author, television host and all-round loudmouth Bill O'Reilly yesterday predicted "Kennedy will go down".
I have always had this niggle in the back of my mind that, in the dark corners of his soul, Trump's plan was always to champion RFK's populist assault on the corrupt US health bureaucracy's depraved whoring with the World Health Organisation and Global Pharma, while at the same time secretly briefing the tabloids and making doubtful noises to key Senators about Bobby's alleged fanaticism.
