DEFENDING FREEDOM & MAKING WAR....ARE THEY ANTITHETICAL?

A matter of Life and Death

Licence to kill in Britain and the Middle East

ADF stands for the Alliance for the Defence of Freedom. It is a US originated conservative Christian organisation. There are mixed views about it, depending on whether you're woke BLM DNC by nature, or a libertarian radical realist. I am of the latter ilk, and so I see ADF as an organisation the world needs on many levels.

You may or may not have noticed that the Rest Home for the Braindead [aka the British Westminster Parliament House of Commons] voted by a majority of 23 on 20 June 2025 to legalise assisted suicide in the United Kingdom. This is ADF's take on the issue:

'The vote to approve the Leadbeater Bill on assisted suicide—314 to 291—is a grave and chilling development for the United Kingdom. Parliament has signaled its willingness to cross a dangerous moral line: allowing the intentional ending of life as a form of healthcare. When the state begins to endorse death as a solution to suffering, the most vulnerable—those who are elderly, disabled, depressed, or alone—will soon find themselves wondering if their lives are still worth living, or worse, if they’re expected to die.

The consequences of this decision will echo far beyond the chamber walls. It opens the door to coercion, and to lives cut short out of fear, despair, or pressure. No safeguard can undo the message this bill sends: that some lives are no longer worth protecting. At every stage, support for the bill has dropped and this narrow vote underscores the growing concern with this deeply flawed bill.

Parliament has fundamentally failed to protect the country from a descent into a culture of death. As the bill moves forward, we urge the House of Lords to listen to the voices of doctors, disability advocates, and families who know that real compassion means care, not killing. A society that values life must have the courage to say no to assisted suicide.'

Amen to all of that.

Reverting yet again to my mantra about people typologies, there are those of high IQ but inability to analyse likely consequences; and there are those of common sense experience who are high in wisdom.

314 Commons MPs are in the first typology. The gentleman above is one of them and no, we are not surprised.

The 291 who voted against this dangerous Bill belong in the second typology. Whatever their politics, I applaud their common sense realism.

To introduce a euthenasia Act into a society that has ceded so much good, open-minded science to the flawed cause of progressive settled-science fascism would be a terrifying example of socio-cultural vandalism. It would be akin to passing a law allowing Citizen money deposited in a Bank to transubstantiate immediately into being the Bank's money.

Oops, silly me - I do apologise. We already did that.

The point I'm making is a very simple one. There are those more broadly in human society whose greed ensures that they will pervert naive legislation in order to make money and gain power. And there are those who fight to protect ordinary citizens from such sociopaths.

The Alliance for the Defence of Freedom is in the latter category. I urge you to visit their website which you can access using this link.

Meanwhile, back in the overture to World War Three...

'ST PETERSBURG, Russia (Reuters) -Russia, which holds the world's largest natural gas reserves, is exploring ways to manage a surplus of gas, including using it for data centres, as exports to Europe continue to plummet, government officials and company managers have said'.

Er....right. So 72 hours ago, von der Leyen told us that the Russian economy "is in collapse...because sanctions work".

But the Russian economy appears to be in rude health....whereas the EU is starved of affordable energy, and engaged in an energy tariffs war with the US - which is backing Zionism in a war that is entirely about access to energy in the Middle East....where obliteration of Iranian nuclear capability was claimed to have achieved a cease-fire....but Trump himself earlier today said both Israel and Iran are breaking the ceasefire and [I quote the White House quoting the President here], "Neither side knows what the f**k they're doing".

So that's OK then: no escalation to worry about there.

The Russian economy - compared to most of the entire First World - is in good shape because it has more access to cheap energy to drive its industries than anyone else on the planet....including America. The EU is heading for a major recession and the US has an unrepayable $38 trillion sovereign debt. The Russian economy, however, is being forecast by an eclectic range of sources to grow between 1.5 and 2.3% in 2025.

In such a position of energy surplus, only a congenital idiot would believe that sanctions framed by clowns (themselves starved of affordable energy) might work to bring the RF down. It is sheer upside-down lockstep dumb-think.

And in case you were wondering, natural gas can be used as aeroplane fuel: it requires modifications to the aircraft and potentially new infrastructure for refueling. Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is the most commonly used form of natural gas for aviation; it is cheaper than kerosene, and has a much smaller carbon footprint.

But we're not going to use any of that muck because the Russians make it....so there, yah-boo sucks. A massive blow to international tourism, and a massive inflationary cost for the holidaymaker.

So much for saving the planet.

A corrupt idiot speaks...

So I fall back on my own dwindling sources....

....and this is what they tell me: the US has attacked the capability it knows about, not the still intact stuff the Iranians moved elsewhere two years ago*. And at the latest Brics conference, Putin and Xia Ping agreed that in the event of US World policemania intervention, they would put weapons and troops into Iran. The inevitability of escalation is clear, but Useful Idiots refuse to see it....preferring to play Virtual Golf - and see Putin as a monster in charge of a joke economy. The denialism is risible.

*On the NBC news last night, damage assessment photography of the nuclear sites bombed by Washington has led [it is alleged] senior military experts to conclude that the attack "will only set the Iranian nuclear programme back three to six months anyway". But late last night EST on CNN, Donald Trump claimed that Iran will never rebuild their nuclear facilities after US military strikes. So there's a somewhat disconnected hymn sheet between the White House and certain Pentagon experts.

For once, however, Zero Hedge and The Slog are on the same page here.

But Netanyahu remains as bombastic and mendacious as ever, telling the media yesterday, “We achieved a historic victory, and this victory will stand for generations. We rose like a lion and our roar shook Tehran. This war will be studied in all the armies of the world. We destroyed the critical facilities in Arak, Natanz, and Isfahan....If Iran tries to rebuild its nuclear programme, we will destroy it.”

Peace by with you, and in your heart, Benny.

Post Script: A reminder for those readers determined to present me as an anti-semite...

I have never had the slightest doubt that the Tehran regime is developing a missile-deliverable nuclear weapon. From the opening hilarious assertion twelve years ago that they 'need nuclear capacity purely for peaceful energy production and street lighting' I have been convinced that the fundamentalist Mullahs in charge of what used to be a civilised nation are fanatics who won't be happy until Israel has been turned into a nuclear pancake.

Islamist clergy are a global nuisance, but the Persians as a people [they are not Arabs] are very, very smart. Sino-Russian arms will now pour into the region. Escalation is a certainty, and never in history has lasting peace been achieved by making war. Those who ignore that historical species fact are doomed to repeat the never-ending horror show.
